VideoTrace is used to interactively generate realistic 3D models of objects from video. The user interacts with VideoTrace by tracing the shape of the object to be modelled over one or more frames of video. VideoTrace provides an intuitive and powerful means of modelling shape from video, executed quickly enough to be used interactively. This allows users to rapidly model parts of scenes to the desired level of detail. The resultant model is a combination of 3D geometry with the relevant textures that can then be used in any 3D environment.
- Quick and easy modelling of real environments
- Turns traced outlines into realistic 3D models
- Aids online commerce
- Accurate 3D models created quickly and easily from video
